Saturday night is one of the nights that Ray plays cards with some of the folks that live in the local assisted living place that is across the street from us. Since I work every other Saturday and get out to late to join them, I don't go.
This past Saturday, I went over to my friend Bren's house and tried out the new game I bought for Wii. It is Mario Kart Wii. It is basically a racing game that allows you to compete as various characters from the Nintendo world like Mario and Donkey Kong. I tend to love racing games, and this is an old favorite that I remember playing when I was back in high school in the original version on my Nintendo system. It is great being able to play and with a different interface system.
What is really cool is that because the Wii system has access to the Internet, not only can you play against people in the building you are in, but you can actually play with people all over the world. I have actually played with people from all over the US, Canada, Japan, France, the UK, and the Netherlands. You don't actually get to chat with people, but it is still cool knowing that you are playinng with people from the other side of the planet!
It looks like periodically they have tournaments and stuff that people can participate so you can prove you really are the best. I don't think I hfall into that category, but I do really enjoy playing. I am hoping to get better with time.
Today, I had a bunch of friends over, and we took turns playing the game. That should make Martin happy since it means I had a reason to have people over. While it wasn't cards, it was still something to make the home a social one. See you at the finish line!
