I had a really nice surprise today. I was working away while the teens in the After-School Center were playing Wii, and Sidekick stepped through the door. I was so totally thrilled. I did not know that she had come back to the area. In case you had forgotten, she had gone down to the Carolinas so her wife could get a degree to be a nurse practitioner. Unfortunately, because of Nurse's busy schedule a couple of other reasons, they were not able to come back north for the holidays.

Sidekick was able to work it into their schedule now, and she wanted to make sure to stop in and say hi. She was telling me all about the library she got a job back, and we compared notes about what's going on with our families and such since we last talked.

It really brought back the good times of us hanging together. I so miss having her around. On a bright note, she invited Ray and me to go visit her and Nurse so we can get a chance to see the Chapel Hill area. It would be great to do so. Perhaps we could work in a vacation where we head down to visit them and my brother, who lives in Virginia near D.C.

The only stinky thing was that the visit was so short. Her parents were in the car outside and she was on her way to the airport so she really could only stick around for a half hour, but it really was a great half hour.
