I know I have been a little remiss about keeping you all up-to-date about the health situation with my father-out-of-law. The good news is he is feeling a bit better. He is not so tired and pretty much back to his old self. On the other hand, we have had no indication that we will be seeing the bypass surgery happening any time soon.
He has gotten a couple of names of surgeons in the Boston area as referrals. When he told us their names, I jumped right on DocFinder, which is a great website that allows patients (and anyone else) to look up their licensing information with the state Medical Boards they are registered with. It provides inforamtion about their medical training as well as date about complaints, lawsuits, and other concerns in their history. The two doctors checked out fine.
To make matters worse, the doctor who treated him at the hospital seems to be holding his test results from when he ws in the hospital hostage. The hospital is in the process of closing down the cardiac surgical unit due to a lack of patients. They had good results, but there are just too many hospitals in the area offering it. I think that he is just being spiteful about losing business.
I think we should contact the state Department of Health to file a complaint because if that is the case, it is not only unprofessional, but it also might be slowing down medical treatment.
Ray also seems to think that part of the problem is that his father is scared. He is moving things along really slowly because he thinks that something is going to go wrong during the surgery, and he will not survive it. I can sort of understand that, I guess, but it is only going to get worse the more he waits.
I just hope things will start moving along a little more quickly.
