More About Ray's Dad

I know I have been a little remiss about keeping you all up-to-date about the health situation with my father-out-of-law. The good news is he is feeling a bit better. He is not so tired and pretty much back to his old self. On the other hand, we have had no indication that we will be seeing the bypass surgery happening any time soon.

He has gotten a couple of names of surgeons in the Boston area as referrals. When he told us their names, I jumped right on DocFinder, which is a great website that allows patients (and anyone else) to look up their licensing information with the state Medical Boards they are registered with. It provides inforamtion about their medical training as well as date about complaints, lawsuits, and other concerns in their history. The two doctors checked out fine.

To make matters worse, the doctor who treated him at the hospital seems to be holding his test results from when he ws in the hospital hostage. The hospital is in the process of closing down the cardiac surgical unit due to a lack of patients. They had good results, but there are just too many hospitals in the area offering it. I think that he is just being spiteful about losing business.

I think we should contact the state Department of Health to file a complaint because if that is the case, it is not only unprofessional, but it also might be slowing down medical treatment.

Ray also seems to think that part of the problem is that his father is scared. He is moving things along really slowly because he thinks that something is going to go wrong during the surgery, and he will not survive it. I can sort of understand that, I guess, but it is only going to get worse the more he waits.

I just hope things will start moving along a little more quickly.

I get so ANGRY sometimes at the lack of communication between doctors, between departments, between EVERYBODY AND EVERYTHING! Once treated, examined, unless there hasn't been a visit for over a certain period of time, it should not be necessary to update a doctor or provide old or continuing information. If one lousy office/doctor can't hang onto your insurance information or info about any allergies you have, how can they manage to communicate to another office/doctor? I wouldn't necessarily trust all the information if they did! I'd be reading it over, checking it twice, making corrections, asking questions...so, you see, we end up having to take matters in our own hands in order to get and relay information of any kind.

"Just being spiteful about losing business"...sorry, AJ...but that's f.u.c.k.e.d. up.I will just sit here and pray that things are moving the way that they are supposed to and send some loving thoughts your way.

What I find discouraging is that doctors DON'T communicate with each other--my vascular surgeon was suppose to report to my heart surgeon the results of the ultrasounds--never did--my primary doctor doesn't have any idea what's going on I HAVE TO TELL HIM!!!

well it is too bad that he feels this way. This is not good.
Take it from me.When they told me that I need a by pass and sort
of look puzzled. After speaking with the surgeon he assured me
that things will be fine with me.He may me feel great about
myself. They were wonderful the whole crew. From then on postive
and I mean postive thinking is the key word here.
Ray dad need some postive thinking and relaxed himself.
Yes,no one want to get their chest cracked as this is a weird
feeling.I understand that.
Get this over with soon and the better that he will be.
They do wonder today on heart surgery. They came a long way.
It has been a year for me and so far things are moving along.
Along with my age of course. That never stop.
Good luck there and he will be fine.
Meet the surgeon talk with him and then work it from there.
Have you try Google, that where I found mine.

Pls try to convince Ray's dad that no time can be spoiled. The sooner the better I would say in these situations.
