Prom Queen: the Marc Hall Story - a Movie Review

Ok. I will admit it. I am SOOOOOO adicted to the Logo Network. I can't stop watching. It is like I get a hit off just anything that is on there. It is so nice to have commercials that are like regular TV, but have same-sex couples in them

So, I was watching this movie the other day. It stars Aaron Ashmore, who some of you might know as Iceman from the X-Men movies or from the Animorphs tv show that was on Nickelodeon. It is actually a biopic, which you probably figured out from the title.

Marc was a teenager in Canada who filed a court case in order to force his high school to allow him to bring his boyfriend to the prom. It was a Catholic high school so you can imagine how controversial that all was. It is amazing. I was just enthralled by the movie because it was about an everyday kid with everyday parents in a small town. He did not stand up to make a major change. He just wanted to go to the prom with his boyfriend.

One of the things that I really liked about the movie is that it also had some humor. A movie like that could really be dark. This one had those moments, but it also left me chuckling from time to time. I even had to grab the tissues when he was given his testimony. I think that stunned Ray. I am not a big cryer. It is not that I don't feel, but I think I used them all up when I was a kid.

Speaking of needing tissues, they also have this great show on that network called Coming Out. It is a reality show where people come out to someone in their life. It is an amazing show because it shows the wide range of responses that people get!!! Some are so happy while others are so depressing. It really shows how tough coming out is for the individual, though.

See what I mean? (Referring to my post on the other site) It's like we're having a conversation right now! I think it's so neat!

I am soooooooo jealous that you get LOGO! Oh, how I would love to be able to get that over my cable...then I wouldn't have to rely on the East Side's cinemas for a chance of seeing any gay movies.

I am soooooooo jealous of you having that network. There's nothing like that here. Gays are never seen on australian TV except for the occasional European movie

Never heard of it but I do remember a best selling book about 20 years ago about a teenager who fought and won his case to take his boyfriend to the prom--I think his name was Aaron--seriously!!
I don't get Logo or Here but I never miss a chance to see any gay documentary on cable and there have been loads of them, especially this time of the year and 'Gay Pride' month!
