I spent most of yesterday afternoon at the library in my town ... you know, the beautiful, new one that just recently opened. The Friends of the library are starting to get ready for our next book sale, which will take place in September. As the library gets donations for it and discards books that can be put in the book sale, they go into the Friends closet.
We have to go through everything and get it sorted out so it is easier for people to find the types of books that they like best. This includes breaking them down by genre or style with fiction titles and sorting them by topic for the non-fiction or factual books. We also decide to toss some of them in the recycle bins because they are just in icky or abused states and no one is likely going to want to buy them.
There were about five of us working on them, and the time really flew by. Part of the reason for that is because we are a group that always seems to have a fun time. A good portion of the afternoon was spent talking and laughing while we went through boxes of books, unpacking and organizing and repacking.
