Judge & Jury by James Patterson & Andrew Gross

This one turned out to truly be a roller coaster ride. It starts off when the mobster don Dominic Cavello is being hunted down by the FBI. In the process, he finds himself on the run and kills to agents. It doesn't prevent him from being arrested by Nick Pellisante, the agent in charge. Nick is crushed by the loss of his agents and is willing to do whatever it takes to bring Cavello down, including testifying against Cavello.

Andie Echeverra ends up being on the jury even though she originally was willing to do whatever it took to be dismissed. This actress and single mom ends up getting a sense of dedication before that can happen. Her only concern is her son Jared.

The case takes a really dark turn in shocking ways largely because it is the only way Cavello is likely to escape a guilty verdict. It is this horrible experience that draws Andie and Nick together as they end up in a global chase to bring about justice.

While this novel kicks off as a high-stakes, courtroom drama, it quickly shifts gears into a tale that would make Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum proud. Like most Patterson novels, the pace is quick and keeps the reader on the edge of his seat. Nick and Andie are everyman type characters that seem to be caught up in a tempest of international crime. The whole thing has the reader cheering our heroes on.

You have to slow down your reading. I have been away and feel like I will never catch up!

Wow...yes, you make it sound good and probably because it is good! I'm putting it on the list. (I'm still waiting for my "G" by Sue Grafton to come in.)

Okay is this book 5,000 this year or this month for him?!?!?
I must admit I do like to read his (and all his partner's) books!
