Well, I felt honored today. I was approached by a college student to be interviewed for a project for a writing class. He had to choose someone they looked up to and interview him or her in order to do a paper on their life. He actually was the dishwasher I worked with at the Farm (historic restaurant). Even through we had a big age difference, the whole group of people who worked there were really close and friendly.
He is a really bright kid, and I really see him going far in live. He works hard to succeed, and I think that is one of the most important characteristics someone can have. I was really excited to hear that he was thinking about switching his major from engineering to secondary education. I could picture him being a great teacher because not only is he bright, but he has a really good nature and he has a HUGE amount of patience.
I think that he chose to interview me in part because we have similar personalities. That is probably why we got along so well. A part of me also suspects that he might be similar to me in another way, even though he hasn't sorted that part out yet. I could be wrong about that, but my gaydar is usually really good.
The interview went really well. He definitely put a lot of time and effort into coming up with some great questions to ask. To be honest, I think he might have been a pretty good reporter if he decided to go that route as well. I hope the paper turns out good for him.
