I was reading The Economist today. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it is a great British magazine that does an awesome job of covering international news relating to politics and the economy. They have a whole section dedicated to American politics, and they have been keeping a keen eye on the quickly approaching Presidential election.
They believe since Obama and McCain are working to become the most influential person in the world, that it would be interesting to see how the world would be voting if it was a global election. They created a nifty site that sets up an electoral college format for all the countries of the world. Each country is given a certain number of electoral votes based on population. People living in each country can log in and vote for Obama and McCain.
The results of the vote are very interesting. They are not exactly surprising and probably result as much from their discomfort with Bush than anything else. What is interesting is to see how uniform the results are across all the countries, which have very different backgrounds. The percentages are pretty much the same.

On a really interesting side note, every country has had at least 3 votes already! The ones that are white do not have enough votes yet to make a significant conclusion about the leanings of the country. The site is updated regularly. As of right now, McCain has only taken Andorra.
