Dinner with the Sidekick and Her Wife

Tonight I got to go out for dinner with my sidekick and her wife. It was going to be the last time I was going to get to hang with the Sidekick before they move down to the Carolinas on Monday. I am definitely going to miss her. She is a great friend.

We went into downtown Providence to eat dinner at Downcity. It is not a place that I had ever eaten at, but it is pretty well known by the local GLBTQQ community as being supportive. As a result of its support, it is very comfortable to sit back and be yourself there. It is great food and a fun atmosphere.

For those of you interested in the menu I had (*cough* *cough* Martin), I am going to share! For dinner I had a really yummy salad made of various types of lettuce, plum tomatoes, and spinach that was topped off with a yummy orange vinaigrette. It was served in a baked parmesan bowl and with a small side of French Fries. For dessert, I had a really yummy French vanilla cheesecake, topped with a drizzling of raspberry glaze. Lots of yumminess!

The best part of the evening was just getting a chance to spend time with the Sidekick and her wife. It was the first time I had really had a chance to talk with her wife because I had only been able to see her in passing as she stopped in to get the Sidekick at work. It was really a great evening.

Here is a pretty shot of the dining area:

It has pretty modern looking decor that blends really nicely with the area of the city it is located in.

I haven't been there yet, can you believe it? I go to the city on and off often enough, but seldom eat there. It's usually some time before I'll notice that a favorite of mine is already gone and another has moved in. Down City is very popular and, I've heard, very good. I've had it on my "must go" list for ages.

I'm glad you got to spend some time with your friends. It's good to do that before any kind of departure, even if only temporary.
