I am not sure how it happened, but I seem to bring about problematic weather troubles whenever I have a first day of class when I am teaching. I usually teach in the Spring session, which starts in mid-January. We always seem to have a blizzard, a nor'easter, or other rough, snow-related weather as a result.
This is my first time teaching a Fall semester course at URI. And for those of you who saw the news, you probably noticed that the remnents of hurricane Hannah came through tonday and tonight! It is quite a weird coincidence, though. I must have done something to tick off the weather witch.
On a bright note, the Hannah seems to have missed us slightly. Connecticut and New York seem to be getting the tougher side of the storm. We are not really getting any heavy winds. Just quite a bit of rain, which is not nearly as bad as they are getting to the West of us. The worst is supposed to be over during the early morning.
On the bright side, the class went well. The only weird thing is that only 9 of 20 students showed up. It is ok since the class is really taught online, and I just have the session to go over the syllabus and answer questions, but it is still a little odd.
