Today was the big day when one of our local papers did their candidate profiles. I am including the one for me here:
Aaron J. Coutu

Age: 32
Resident: 10 years.
Occupation: Young adult librarian at the Greenville Public Library; was the Rhode Island Library Association's librarian of the year in 2007; previously completed stints as youth services librarian, reference librarian and reference assistant at the Greenville Public Library and Harmony Library; adjunct professor of English at Rhode Island College; adjunct professor of library science at the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies, University of Rhode Island;
Education: Bachelor of arts in journalism/political science from University of Rhode Island in 1998; MLIS from the University of Rhode Island in library and information science.
Activities: Representative of the Alliance for the Study and Teaching of Adolescent Literature in 2006; representative for the New England Round Table of Children's Librarians since 2003; member of the New England Library Association since 2002; Rhode Island Educational Media Association; Association of Library Services to Children; Rhode Island Teen Book Award Committee; Rhode Island Library Association; Public Library Association; Reference and User Services Association.
Community service: Downtown Pascoag Neighborhood Association; Friends of the Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library; Juvenile Hearing Board vice chairman since June; Burrillville Library Facilities Committee.
Marital status: Partner is Raymond Daignault III, because, Coutu says, same-sex marriage is not allowed in Rhode Island.
I was surprised they included the final part. I figured they would just swithc the entry to single since that is what the papers have always done when I did interviews with them.
If you are curious about the competition, check out the full article at The Valley Breeze site. They actually only have profiles for four of us. There are actually 8 candidates.
