So, I mentioned that my vacation ended with a bang. Well, I am not sure that the word "bang" is the best word to use, but it wasn't the best way to end the week. I ended up with one of the nastiest stomach bugs I have ever had. It sorta started up on Friday morning. I had horrible cramps, felt pretty weak, and was really achy in all of the joints. Ray and I did our usual grocery shopping that morning, and by the end of it, I felt like I was able to stay standing only because of strength of will because my body would have been more than happy to just collapse in one of the aisles.
I have pretty much spent all of my time since either in bed or racing to the bathroom. I will leave out the specifics of that, but lets just say, it was not all that much fun. This was one of the rasons I was able to do the movie marathon I mentioned in my last blog. I also watched all of the Star Wars movies over the weekend.
The one really stinky thing about this all was that I was really bothered by what it did to me professionally. I was supposed to go back to work today. It would have been a soft way to get back into the routine because rather than going to the library, I was going to go the Rhode Island Education Media Association conference. It is one of my favorite conferences. I also end up doing a presentation every year with a group from the Rhode Island Teen Book Award Committee on our new nominees for the next year and the current year's winner. As part of that, I am usually the person that pulls together all the handouts, makes up the PowerPoint presentation, and brings it. It is sorta my responsibility as the committee's chair.
Well, I felt so horrible, that I wasn't able to go today. I felt miserable having let everyone down. I did get an email from one of the folks I was supposed to present with, and it sounds like they were able to get everything together to do a pretty good presentation at the last minute even without handouts and a slide show so that is pretty good. I still feel like I let them down.
I just hope I feel better soon. For days of this is more than enough for me. One really adorable thing is that Belle and Jolie have taken it upon themselves to take care of me. I have two little canine bed warmers with me at all times! Gotta love them!
