I know, I know. You are all thinking to yourself that a week or so ago, AJ posted about the fact that he was going to get back into a steady routine for posting and then he practically disappeared for over a week.
Well, I am going to be naughty and blame it all on my class. Somehow, the end came through (and is technically still happening), and I just felt so overwhelmed by it. A lot of it is due to the fact that the class is twice as large as it normally is. Apparently, my fame is spreading and people have decided to take it because of me and my teaching partner, who is a children's librarian goddess. That is all well and good, but it does mean that in a week and a half, we have to grade 22 final projects as well as come up with grades for participation and their final grades.
That probably doesn't sounds so bad, but each of the final projects takes at least 2 hours to grade. So, as a result, I have pretty much been just grading whenever I have had some spare time. This includes during my lunch at work.
I don't want you to think that I have not enjoyed the class. I really have been enjoying it. The final project, which includes coming up with two months worth of library programs for kids and teens, has resulted in some really interesting program designs. I have really enjoyed a number of the students in the class as well.
The problem is that I have been doing almost no reading the last couple of weeks. I pretty much just get to read for about 45 minutes after running through the paper while riding my bike in the morning. As a result, I haven't had a chance to do my usual format of escapism.
To make matters even more annoying, I bought Wii MarioKart last week, which comes with a little steering wheel to insert the remote control in so it feels like you are driving when you are playing. It has been sitting on the coffee table the whole time because I couldn't make time to play since all the grading had to be done and final grades have to be submitted by noon on Wednesday.
No wonder I am so bitchy.
I have been trying to keep up with all of your posting and commenting when I could. I think I would miss you all too much if I didn't do that. You really have come to be such wonderful friends.
I do have a list of posts I want to get up, and I will trickle them out over the next few days. Hopefully, this means I will be back to participating fully in our little blogging community again.
