Fans of the Blue Blood series get an interesting sneak peak at some of their favorite characters from the series in this collection of three short stories. Each focuses on love in this world that is populated by humans, vampires, and angels.

In the first tale, Oliver, the Red Blood familiar of Schuyler Van Alen, finds himself trying to deal with life now that Schuyler has headed out on the road. He runs into Freya, a mysterious bartender, at one of the clubs in Manhattan. What is odd is that she seems to know about the Blue Blood vampires and their society, but is not really afraid of them. She offers him a suggestion of a good way to deal with his deep feelings of loss and separation.

Schuyler's mother Allegra, who has been living in a coma for years, stars in the second story, which shares with fans the tale of how she met the Schuyler's human father, which led to her breaking prophecy.

In the final story, Schuyler and Jack, the love of her life, are making the ultimate action when it comes to commitment when they come together on their journeys to celebrate their love.

The author has done a wonderful job of using the stories to fill in some blanks and allow for further character exploration without having to worry about the major story arc that is at the core of the series as a whole. I have a feeling the stories provide little seeds about possible things that will happen in the series, or in the case of the first story, a sneak peak at a character in a new spinoff series that is just getting started this summer.

The result is a quick and enjoyable read that is guaranteed to be enjoyed by fans. I don't think this book would go over well with those unfamiliar with the series as a whole since there is little introduction of the characters or explanation of their current situation.
