Mondays are one of our two card nights. I went there right from work. It ended up being a little different than normal since one of the ladies we play with is having a birthday tomorrow. She is going to be 83. Ray and I decided to set up a surprise. This morning before work, I stopped in and picked up a cake and had it personalized and stored it in the staff lounge fridge.
She ended up being totally surprised and gave Ray and me a big hug. She has had a tough year. Her daughter, who is also a senior, lives in the same low-income housing complex. The daughter got mad at her and told her that she "didn't exist." I think she was worried that no one was going to make a big deal about her birthday.
We wanted to make sure she ended up having a good one, and this seemed like it would be the best way to do it.
Wait until Saturday! Ray and I bought each of the ladies we play cards with little boxes of chocolates.
