Today was my mother-out-of-law's birthday. Ray and I decided to take her out for lunch. Going out anywhere with my out-of-laws is always an adventure. I love them, but they are the stereotypical older couples that bicker at each other all the time like George Castanza's from Seinfeld. It still is always fun, though, because I really like them and vice versa.
We went to a local eatery. It wasn't the one that we originally planned to go to, but the sports bar she originally chose seemed to get overrun by quite a large group of motorcyclists who were doing a fundraiser just as we were about to arrive so she decided she wanted to go somewhere else.
The food was great, and we had no shortage of great conversation. She did seem concerned that we were spending so much money. I told her that taking the two of them out for lunch was not going to break us. She is always really worried about money, particularly since they have hit some harder times in recent years.
She really seemed pleased with the trip, which is what was most important.
