This was one of those weekends that I had to work straight through. It was so much more fun because Ray is on vacation. One of the benefits of being a school bus monitor is that he gets school vacations alone. The crappy part is that I am not supposed to take school vacations off because I am supposed to offer extra programming during those weeks.
Anyway, I digress. I got up at my usual 6:00 am on Saturday morning so I could do my bike ride. I ended up skipping the toning workout because I was not feeling up to snuff. Blame it on the the bottle and 1/2 of wine I had the evening before while watching a really good movie.
While I was riding my bike the phone rang. Poor Ray was still asleep, but he grabbed the receiver before I was able to get to it. I guess it was a good thing, though, since it was his mother.
It turned out that she had driven his father to the hospital in the middle of the night. It turned out that he had had a heart attack. He is doing all right now. Today they moved him from the CCU to the regular cardiac unit. He is supposed to have a cathaterization tomorrow morning.
What I found so odd was how easy Ray's family was taking the whole. They were like he had a heart attack, and that was that. Don't get me wrong. It is not like they don't care. They are just so used to his health issues that they take it differently than they used to.
I was a little stunned by the whole thing. I know that some of it is that my whole experience with Ray's heart attack is still fresh in my mind as we approach the third anniversary of the whole thing.
I am just relieved that my father-out-of-law is stable again. He really is a great guy. Hopefully, tomorrow's test will help them identify what caused the heart attack.
