Recently, I got a new game for my Wii. As many of you know, I bring my Wii and some games to work once a week so the teens can play. They have a great time, and it works out as a nice program. Well, the new game has really taken off. It is a computerized form of American Idol.
The kids can pick from a list of songs to sing along with. It is sort of like karaoke plus. The music plays, along with either the original artist or someone else singing. The lyrics are shown, just like in karaoke. It also includes guide lines indicating how the voice should rise and fall (see graphic above). There is an arrow that follows along indicating where the singer's voice is located in the vocal range to help him or her focus in closer to where he or she should be.
They have really gotten into it and line up waiting for their turn. I have been having a grand old time watching and listen to them, even when they are not always quite in tune. It is amazing how long it keeps there attention and how supportive they are of each other.
