OMG that flea bitten critter is on the counter where the food is, are you insane. Animals need to be on the floor, it's all about the food chain hierarchy.

I would think you have to be mentally challenged to be a Republican. George Bush was a wonderful poster child for the handicapped.

A real Irish wake consists of the dearly departed wrapped in a shroud in the living room while every living acquaintance they ever had gets screaming blind drunk. It is a tradition that can be gone anytime soon.

We used to call them Woopsiedoodles, but now they charge $1500 for a pup! Nice crossbreed though.

Actually men want 10 things and in exactly this order....

sex
food
sex
hockey
sex
big trucks
sex
tools
sex
sex

and oh yeah, they only do the things we want because it may lead to sex. I'm not cynical, just realistic. My new criteria for having a man in my life is this - 1) a heart beat and 2) no living relatives

wow - I like this, raw angry wonderfully sexual, minimally feminist (not) amazingly wounded piece of poetry.

I don't know who Jack Bauer is, but I know Keifer comes from a long line of Canadians with a strong sense of social responsibility. He is more famous here for who his relatives were than who he is.

I love the poetry of Kahlil Gibran. Passion and spirituality. Great post.

The only concern I have is how quick the entire public is, assisted by the media to play judge and jury on every case that is in the news. What did happen to "innocent until proven guilty"? We think we know it all because we read it on the internet, but what can we really know?

I am sick for the families that loved this child, and for the child herself. I hope that whatever evidence is found, is checked out, is documented and then is given as such in court. Rumour and innuendo are no way to judge.

Thank you for bringing this up. It is important. Like you I have read a lot and heard a lot about this case. I have so many questions, and so much doubt. Doubt about the mother, about the grandparents, about the police and definitely about the media.

It may be she has some need of your support, or maybe it is just a thank you for being there. There are always people like this in our lives, we see them seldom but when we do, we pick up just as if no time has passed. Actually, just knowing that you have someone you can call and talk to about something (anything) that is happening in your life is a gift. Let us know how it goes. sign me... curious too.

Actually it's "I" and "We" am or are or were greedy. Everyone rode the glory train right into that black hole in the economic universe.

Compassion? It starts at home - like taking care of anyone less fortunate than you. Like the old, the sick, the young and the helpless. The era of "me me me" was a product of the baby boomers, we traded in "peace, love, drugs and rock and roll" for "the material world" and really, are we any better off? Not even close.

It's not about America. It's about human beings and their infinite capacity for greatness.

Good post, thanks.
