Curtains

Lose some win some---Cath has been at me about new curtains, I say whats wrong with them, answer ---they have been up for 6 years and she needs to change them. Just as well I thought when the aircon packed up , will need the money for them, $797 all up , one less holiday.
Daughter came in tonight with a heap of curtains from an exhibition new home, the home was sold and new owner did not want them , they actually match the colour scheme that Cath wanted, never look a gift horse in the mouth they say so we kept them all.
Cath is off the mark , has already done the front doors set, and one hanging for the back door, she
had the two hanging up but one is just a bit longer than so is adjusting the length again. The doors are those large glass ones , panel one side, sliding the other , the drop is 7ft the width 6ft 6” takes 4 curtains in all with sun block on the back. the ones she took down are now in our bedroom, washed and ironed, she's pretty swift is Cath, had to shorten the drop by 3inches , still have 2 sets for spares.
So looking at it this way $797 for the lot is ok with me,

Luckily I live on 3rd floor--no one can see into my place except a fish who jumps up in the water--no curtains here!

WHAT---not bragging how big the fish grow there

What a My mother used to make curtains for peoples' homes. It's a big job for those big windows, and the money adds up fast. I inherited a bunch of fabric from her, but only do for small windows.

Cath has lace (nets) as well , been busy girl, my expertise was putting curtains on rods

Your Cath is a treasure. And she must really be fast to have them up and
hemmed all ready. When I needed sheers in the family room, our Jeremy who
used to blog here came over and hung them for me. It was an ordeal.

Cath hand sewed when she shortened them, machine sewed would be too hard to unpick, luckily (with my measuring it was right)

Well, I think Cath is amazing. We still have curtains in our bedroom from when we took the house (window treatments from the former owners usually stay). I don't like them. We have looked into replacing them, but somehow we don't get it done. I am not a sewer of note, so unless I can hire someone to measure and replace, we are stuck with this washed out peach-colored stuff. Even if I bought finished curtains, I wouldn't know how to choose them as to size.
