Bits and Pieces

Well another Australia day long weekend is over, Cath and I just lazed around on the day itself Saturday, though it was Caths daughters 40th birthday she only rang and wished her a happy day . We knew she was going out on hubbies motor cycle for the day and the grandchildren were farmed out till Sunday, so it would be a good day for the two of them. Sunday night was bbq at their home with all the family present, the two new mums present were in deep discussion over our new grand daughters, when lo and behold we were informed by a soon to be mum that she was expecting , which promptly started congratulations , and more discussions lol , all in all it was a great night.
One memorial Australia day was when Cath and I went into the city to watch the aussie day parade,
we were standing by the Adelaide town hall and could see the parade coming when a chap with a beard approached Cath asking for a light for his ciggy, she got her lighter out and as the chap leaned closer she lit it and his beard caught fire, well that didn't go down well at all ,Cath was slapping his face and the look of astonishment on the poor chaps face was funny, anyhow no damage done , he had a beard trim, apology accepted and he did get to light his ciggie .
Having a world tour via google earth , first time that I have actually used it , have visited some of your towns , there is some lovely country over that way for sure , been to Les Vegas street view checked out the casino's , some very impressive places, i'de be no good driving , even on street view I was going the wrong way

Congratulations on your growing family. I love to visit places I have lived in -- but it's a sad journey because there is loss connected to each of them. My childhood neighborhood in Chicago is obliterated, replaced by concrete low commercial buildings. And it was low-end but ever so vital. The apartment building where I lived with my first husband in New York City, still there, reminding me of my time there and so sad because it is still there and he is not.

my home has gone also , there is a factory there now . i find earth once you get the knack of it easy to use, found some good fishing spots here on a river that dries up in summer but has pools still

In the past I've used Google earth to visit some of the places you've described in your posts, and when I'm out here in Las Vegas, I visit my home in Colorado because I get homesick. It is such a wonderful service, because when I'm thinking of driving cross country alone, I can check out the route to sort out the paved roads from the gravel ones.

Earth is a great tool, have looked up fishing holes in local river that goes dry in summer, only carp , but is a good fighting fish on light tackle

He learned the hard way that smoking AND having a beard are no good for you!!!
So what will the total number of grandchildren be this time next year?

I used google Earth to visit the old family home that we sold after my mother died in '94. Geez... the new people did quite a renovation! Also saw the place where my ole lady grew up. LOL Sight-seeing can't get easier than that! Heard about some sort of sea foam over your way. Four foot high, like soap bubbles. Guess it's not close to where you are or you would have mentioned it.

That was the 10ft foamy waves breaking against sea wall, some towns up in Queensland and New South Wales having worst floods ever recorded. Some year where having, 2 states have bushfires still burning after a week or so and 2 having floods, here in SA have had some minor fires and a heat wave, keeping fingers crossed no major bush fires happen.
