We have been treating Rosie, our black California-born female, for kidney disease during the past five and a half weeks. Lately and after several serious needle-jab injuries, I have been taking her to the animal hospital every three days for subcutaneous hydration. I took her last on Thursday.
Her kidney test results are not improving and in fact have got worse. The prognosis is not good.
Yesterday when I came home after a local pro baseball game I noticed odd behavior on her part and took her to my lap in a chair. She had round irises, so I waved my hand back and forth in front of her facer. She did not flicker or respond.
I realized that she had lost her eyesight.
She may have had a stroke or it might be the natural progression of a feline illness such as diabetes or whatever, I don't know. I called the vet yesterday and they told me to monitor her, assist her with drinking, etc.
She found her way to the litter today. I also have been keeping her in or near the kitchen where she has water and wet food occasionally.
I take her back to the hospital Monday at 2.
I hope I can keep her going a while longer but I can't afford any expensive treatments. The charge for her hydrations is more than I can take right now.
I don't know what else I can do.
This is a very sad place.
