
Looking south from Perry Street abutment to the Market Street bridge. The retainer wall has washed away just to the left of the bridge in the photo. The wall, over 30 feet high, was built after the deadly 1913 floods. It is in a sad state and needs urgent repairs.

Looking north-northeast from the west side of the Perry Street bridge. This spot is five hundred feet down from my house. The river flows away from where I shot this one. Lake Erie is up that way.

Perry Street bridge from its north side. The river will crest sometime overnight or in the morning and probably be against the steel part of the span, above the piers. These bridges were rebuilt in the past few decades and are much stronger than before. The normal surface of the river is about twenty-six feet below where it is in these photos.
