They defeated his proposal for a $250 S.S. one-time check. We have gone 2 years without a COLA increase, and our prices surely haven't held without increases during that period. But they sure managed a big fat tax break for their wealthy contributors.

Keith Oberman did a scathing piece on Obama in which he accused him of abandoning everything he promised those who elected him from compromising on health care reform to failing to eliminate the tax breaks for the wealthy. Those same 'Republicans who yelled to extend the tax cuts will now berate him for running up the deficit. Obama has not shown he has the power to keep his Democratic legislators in line and has been forced into compromise time and again. That will not bode well with many of those who supported him who had high hopes that he could really effect change. I too will never vote for a Republican, but I fear that his weakness on the issues on which he was elected may put us right back into another
Republican administration.

I haven't yet given up on Obama. Don't despair.

Except now there won't be enough votes to pass the tax bill. Hooray!
