My Retrospective Art Exhibition opens at four in the afternoon today - Sat. Sept. 12. For about two months I have been borrowing paintings here and there from some of my patrons in Ohio. I also picked up three large works from the early 1970 period that friends in the Cleveland-Akron area gave back to me!
Large meant I had to bum a ride to go get them from a friend with a huge SUV, buy him a great lunch and a tank of gas (SUVs have very large scale gasoline tanks!) not to mention the turnpike fees, etc.
My house was jammed with canvases leaning against walls and stuff collected from the printer for the show. Eventually, I got the gallery and began toting it all over there last weekend. One day a friend brought his pickup truck and we moved the huge paintings.
Yesterday I finished hanging the show, stuck the wall cards that explain the paintings off to the side of the canvases, swept the floor, and came home.
The walls are bare. The house echoes now.
I'm cooking my crock pot of party meat balls for the opening gala.
I think I will go choose my neck tie.
