*brought over from another blog somewhere out there*
I'm surrounded by greatness. Well, not really surrounded since most
of my friends live far away, but in a figurative sense I'm surrounded
by great people.
Recently, a friend from college informed me that she is volunteering to
work two to three weeks out of the year for a non-profit organization.
She will donate her time and international airfare and they will
provide room and board for the project.
Other friends are serving in similar capacities on a full-time
basis. One is working for a pittance with an organization that reaches
out to convicts and ex-convicts. Two are living in a foreign country
serving their church. And more friends than I can count have dedicated
their lives to charitable service in the U.S. without regard for
compensation or recognition.
I like Albert Einstein's perspective: "Only a life lived for others is worth living."
