Tasty little snack that comes out every year at this time. It is like a bean. You separate the pod from the white "meat" which encases a little, flat black seed. Not sweet, not sour, just tasty! Guamuchiles, anyone?

What does it taste like?
Looks so interesting, I don't think we have anything comparable here.
Interesting looking beans -- very colorful! I ate Edamame at a Japanese restaurant once and apparently you're only supposed to eat the bean. Well, I ended up putting the entire thing into my mouth and my Dad made me eat it. Nasty.
Never heard of these but I'd like to try 'em..
If it tastes like a bean, I would love it. I haven't met a bean yet that I cannot savor!
The black seed is what you eat? Or do you also eat the white 'meat' part?
