Yes, friends, spring is here. And as I look out my window high atop the Shady Pines Senior Housing Complex what do I see? Snow on the ground. That's right. And the temperature is a balmy 5 degrees. Now where did I put those Bermuda shorts, flip flops and tube tops? The sun is shining brightly though, and with any luck at all, this shit should all melt away soon with the high temps in the upper thirties predicted today. I'll wait and let the sun melt the crap off the P.O.S before I go anwhere today. I was done with shoveling snow off of vehicles when I left the Flower City by the Lake.
Later today we are all meeting for a birthday dinner for niece Lulubelle's husband Buster. He's a decent enough kid, a good husband and father to Lulubelle and their children Damien and Wednesday and he works hard to support them, even though they are living in her parent's house. He's a quirky individual, though. He hardly ever says anything but when he does, look out. He pontificates forever about the most mundane subjects. It's like he saves it all up and then lets fly.
Me: "Hey, Buster what time do you have?"
Buster: "Well, now Auntie Bugg, I'm glad you ask that. We have to concider the overall concept of time and wheather we are talking about daylight time or Greenwitch Mean time. It all depends on one's overall perspective of.....blah blah blah"
This goes on for half an hour or so while I'm putting a gun to my head and shooting myself. But he is a good kid, as previously mentioned, so I endure. Plus he's always willing to help out with minor household repairs, yardwork and furniture moving as the occasion arises. Actually, Lulubelle made a pretty good choice when one ponders all the loosers she could have married.
In addition to the above occasion, we are having Indoor Activity Day here a Shady Pines. Indoor shuffleboard, horseshoes and various board games. I doubt that it will be widely attended as there is no food and/or money involved. But with the weather the way it is who knows? The inmat...I mean residents here just might surprise me and not be the greedy, voracious slobs they have shown themselves to be in the past. I won't hold my breath, however.
Well, I'd best get it in gear....gotta clean up this shitho...I mean luxury apartment, take a shower and get ready for whatever the day is gonna bring.
