agree...the odd thing was these safeguards were put in place back in the 1030's when Joseph P. Kennedy, sire of the far famed Kennedy clan and one of the biggest stock swindlers to ever don a green eye shade, was head of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Appointed by FDR in return for political support, Mr. Kennedy did his job though, and enacted many reforms to prevent just such occurences as is ripping our economy apart right now. The new president needs to get in there and clean house....ditto every other gub'ment agency. And I'm the woman with the big brooms.

cool tv....cute bird. I have the same problem with my local channsls on the cable here.(in re yer comment to AJ). We'll pro'lly have to buy yet another device(from the cable company, natch) to get these channels clearly. Friggin' cable company. They got their money's worth when they paid the lawmakers to enact that digital only law.

we had some wind here, a few tree branches down in various parts of town. The electric went out for a coupla minutes (the hampster that runs in the wheel down at the power company must have become frightened.) Its cloudy here but much cooler than the last coupla days. Glad you made it through.

glad yer feeling a little better, Marty. I saw a review on "At The Movies" and they said this new remake of "The Women" sucked for air. I have never seen the original. Will have to check that out. I saw where they are coming out with a re-make of that wonderful sci-fi classic "The Day the Earth Stood Still" with Kannunu Reeves as Klatu. I nearly went and stuck my head in the oven. They need to leave good stuff alone.

I agree. Even though I hold s dim view of all politicians(save for myself, of course), I believe the McCane campaign is showing the worst in American politics. Mr. Obama seems to want to stick to the issues while McCane keeps going for the lowest common demoninator. The Karl Rove School of campaigning. As far as intelect goes, I also agree that we need the best and brightest to lead. The last thing we need is another dumbass in the White House who barely graduated(and then due to influencial parents [McCane's father and grandfather were admirals;Bush's family was rich and influential]). Mr. Obama didn't have such advantages and he graduated in the top of his Harvard Law School class. No mean feat, lemme tell ya. I don't agree with every posistion Mr. Obama takes but I believe he will be the better choice....IN 8 YEARS because I am gonna win in November
