Well, the time has come once again for the yearly inspections by the federal agency that oversees public housing here in Cow Snot. I won't name said agency but it sounds like an old Paul Newman movie. All last week, Cow Snot Housing Authority maintenence crews were here at Shady Pines fixing the stuff we've been begging them to for months with no sucess. I'm reminded of the scene in the movie "Stalag 17" when, in advance of the Geneva man coming to inspect , everyone gets new blankets and are forbidden to voice complaints. The deal is, agency reps inspect the building in general and a number individual apartments at random. One never really knows which apartment(s) they will pick to view so all weekend everyone was cleaning, dusting, and uncluttering. The sound of vaccumn cleaners, dust busters, rug shampooers and various other cleaning equipment permeated the air. I finally got motivated to cleaning out my storage pantry, got rid of some crap, and dusted the corners. My luck I will not be one of the tenents chosen after near killing myself slaving over assasinating dust bunnies. This inspection tour is scheduled to last the entire week so none of us will be really off the hook until Friday. This means I can't go anywhere untill then. They can and will enter yer home wheather you are present or not. I find that unsettling. What if, for example, I am in the shower and don't hear them knocking. They barge in, and catch me in the shower, in Nature's own, with a shampoo mohawk singing "I'm too sexy for my shirt" into the shampoo bottle. It would not be attractive. They leave in haste writing "crap in shower" on their inspection forms. But I guess this is the price we down and out pay for living in gub'ment funded( read "afordable") housing.
Jethrene's move is complete and she and her rug ra....I mean precious snowflakes are settling in nicely. Sis-in-law Suffering seems to think all is going smoothly and all the little bumps will smooth themselves out. The contractors did an excellent job on the renovations and brother Bubba sez it didn't cost him and arm and a leg...just a leg har har. This move will save Jethrene money, help Bubba and Suffering with expenses and protect Jethrene and the kids from Shitstick and his minions. We are all hoping she meets some nice boy so she can start her life anew. She sez she's not ready and I really can't blame her much.
