Meanwhile ... .In Cow Snot

Good Humpday, MyBloggerstown:

Weather forecasters are calling for some snow here. Nothing like back east, thank goodness, but a few inches to throw a slippery monkey wrench into the works.
Since Monday before last, I have been battling the dreaded bronchitis.  Many (2) have been urging me to go to Kwik Care or the doctor or some other practitioner of medical scorcery but I am determined to tough it out.  They'd pro'ly put me in the hospital (of which I've seen more than enough lately). Now I ask you, what can they do for me at the hospital that I cannot do for myself here? Wake me up at all hours wanting blood/vital signs/ stool samples?  Run all sorts of inane tests on me? Feed me crappy food? Not answer my buzzer for a bedpan till two hours later? And charge thousands of bucks?  I can stay in my own little apartment, in my own little bed, snug as a, well...bugg in a rug. For free. I have my cough medicine, my antihistimines, my Tylenol, my Vicks Vaporub, my juices, my Campbell's Noodle soup and six boxes of Kleenex.  I am beginning to feel better as of this writing.  I'm no longer being kept awake by my own wheezing and my sense of smell is returning, appetite soon to follow.  One good side effect of all this is I've dropped about 10 lbs over the course of my illness.  A little side benny.  Of course once I get my sense of smell and taste back, it'll be Katie Bar the Door. But we'll deal with that.

Been watching a lot of tv, being shut in as I am. TCM(Turner Classic Movies) are running some good movies and I've seen some that I've heard about but hadn't actually seen.  All the movies they are showing are Oscar wining/nominated films in a run up to the Academy awards next month.   This one was really old(the name escapes....too much cough medicine) and it stared James Cagney and Edward G. Robinson as this small time gamblers who run into these hustlers who take their money and in the end they turn the tables on the crooks.  Then there was another one called "Blues in the Night" where this up and coming band leader falls for a dame who is no good. He leaves his band and hits the skids and she leaves him for greener pastures. Jack Carter played in it but he wasn't the main character. It was pretty good.  Then on another chanel they were showing "The Godfather" parts 1 and 2. That's always a worthwhile choice.
With any luck at all, I'll be well enough to officiate at the bingo game here at Shady Pines on Saturday.  I really do enjoy that and we usually have a pretty good turnout.  Proceeds go to our Resident Council for activities such as pizza nights and so forth.

Well, that's about it, ladies and germs. Have a good rest of the week, everyone.  And keep shovelin'.
