Quoting My Daddy

There will never be much progress toward a whole human potential so long as mankind is mired in the belief that mythology is calling the shots. -jondude

I aced that essay. I still have all of my school essays, etc., in a big box along with what look like doughnut sprinkles. I am still trying to remember how that happened.

What I wrote was also not against religions, but against those who use religion to advance personal agendas. And I am not wrong about their early invention of god. But, hey, if it helps people, why not. Just don't push your rules on everyone else, as you have also said.

So basically you are railing against ancient rules supposedly laid down by gods invented by self-styled priests to give them power over their less imaginative fellows. And it works because dying is cruel and we want an "out" and the priests said Heaven was the out and the fools believe it to this day. I do, however, believe in Kitty Heaven.

I'm not 'against' religions. I am against religions ruling over anyone. Anywhere.

Someday someone will Google 'great quotes about progress of mankind' and there will be this quote with your name on it, and we'll all say proudly: "I knew him when."

Thank you! I wrote that in a paper in a graduate Metaphysics class. The professor was a Jesuit and he wholeheartedly agreed with me. Imagine!
