This plant is called a Trumpet Vine.
We have them all over and they are lovely with the brightest of white as you can see. They closed up in the evening.

This is the or one of the years that had the best geranium and been blooming all along and does a nice job accent to the Trumpet Vine.

As you can see.

The rest of my garden are doing fairly well and picked zucchini with the tomatoes coming fair and also the beans.
Well I am not sure the temp hit 100 yet here as they say toward south of us very hot and humid and telling people to stay inside as the air quality is terrible.
I have the AC cranking up and doing a fair job.
Buffy has been out of it since the start.
Some day he will not eat or drink and today was a good day for him.
He sleeps most of the day.
Got a check up yesterday and finally I get him groomed Thursday with his GI haircut as he needs it.
We are trying not to do any cooking if we can help it.
I made some chicken salad to be had on a bed of lettuce.
Johnny bread etc.
Will be staying in for the rest of the night.
Keep cool there and stay hydrated.

No- I got confused because I read the post before but forgot to leave a comment. It was a "duh" moment.

It is hot as hades here now. I almost felt sick after I did the watering this
morning and I was back inside by nine.

last time I did any serious pruning, I was sick for the rest of the day. Really bad. I don't try anymore.

Don't knock yourself out in doing t his.I remember that Mike was working in the garden last year in full sun and then came in being sick for the rest of the day.Not worth. The best time to water is in the early morn when temp drop down some.Take it easy t here.

I am hoping the drought is over down here and that the water table rises. We had another drenching storm last night and night rains in Florida are rare. Last night's rain lasted hours and was heavy. Will have to check the lake and ditch levels when I leave the house later today.

we are supposed to get a good one this afternoon.
We had micro burst in one of the town and did very heavy damages there.

Out here, we call that Devil's Trumpet because we have what we call trumpet vines that are a vine-like plant with many orange trumpet-shaped flowers. Whatever they're called they are very dramatic and lovely next to those beautiful geraniums.
comment by troutbend on July 17, 2012 6:29 PM ()
yes,we had the vines and many of the Victorian Homes has this. They can get overwhelm if you do not take care or cut them back.
reply by fredo on July 18, 2012 9:28 AM ()
yeah it is definitely GROSS outside. Bleh. I am glad you have some AC working for ya.
comment by kristilyn3 on July 17, 2012 5:50 PM ()
This all should be over soon after our storm this afternoon.

We have already picked a few yellow (they are supposed to be yellow) tomatoes and my beefstakes are almost ready--probably tomorrow Freshly picked squash and zucchini with dinner tonight. Hopefully we'll get some rain tomorrow before the cooldown. Not much in the forecast after that. You should be able to cook up a storm by Thursday!

You guys always do an amazing job with your garden. It is always so beautiful.

We definitely were in the 90s today so it has been uncomfortable. On the bright side, it seemed like we had a bit of a breeze and less humidity than expected o it was not as harsh as I would have thought. Thankfully, it is supposed to cool down after tonight!
comment by trekbrarian on July 17, 2012 3:24 PM ()
