It is Silly to Do This . . .

“To wear ones heart upon ones sleeve” . . .

This phrase originates from the medieval times, when it was customary for a knight to wear the name of his lady on his sleeve, during a jousting tournament . . .

Now it's hard to get someone to commit your name to their facebook profile. What an interesting tidbit...thanks!

Hi, I don't use facebook - even though my daughter has been nagging me to. As I explained to her, I have read sooo many stories of peoples private details going astray, it has put me off. Maybe I'll try a pseudonym and give it a go - another 'uncommited' one

I love finding out where sayings originate. I just learned "land office business" last night!

It's bound to be something to do with 'making money' (not counterfeiting )Sounds as if it maybe in relation to the designation of sections of 'land' - (early America)??????

There is a jousting dinner show every night at the Excalibur in Las Vegas. We like to stand outside when the horses for it are moved from their corral to the arena. They look like regular not very exciting horses, but like show girls once they're all decked out in costume they have all kinds of spirit and flare.

I bet that is a great show to watch! The horses must be aware, that the moment they are dressed with their costume, they are ready for 'work'. I am not sure if there are any 'jousting tournaments' held in the uk, have to check that out. I know there are several groups who re-create different periods of history around the country, perhaps they do it - I will let you know.

It makes a lot of sense to be mysterious.

Yes, so much more effect to be a little 'opaque' in the creation of new relationships (and loads of fun too)
