The Chinese 'Vase' . . . !

Whilst I was replying to comments on my previous post, I was half listening to the national news. Something caught my attention . . .

I am not too sure which part of the country it was, but, someone, somewhere went up into their attic (loft)  in order to bring down an old ‘vase’ they knew they had stashed away, hoping to ‘cash in’ it’s worth – about £800 - £1000.00 – (they thought). So they took it to an auction house. An estimate on it surprised them – a little . . . It was valued at about 1 million pounds!!!

The vase, was a Chinese one – more than that, I don’t know – didn’t catch it all.

The owners put the vase into the next auction . . . . . . .

It fetched (an amazing)  43 million pounds!!!!!!!!!
  . . . . . They were ‘gobsmacked’ . . . . .!

What makes this story extra awesome is that if they went looking for the vase, they needed the 1000 pounds...imagine never having to worry about cashing something in again. Wow.

On the tv news, they said it was as I described it in the post, but on the article which I found the picture, they said it was found during a 'house clearance' - still an amazing value though

That's life-changing. We'll have to keep an eye out for a photo of it, hope it's as pretty as it is valuable.

I have managed to find a pic. Unfortunately, it wouldn't allow me to 'copy' the news text which accompanied it - I do believe it was on 'Reuters' though.

My deceased M-I-L had some Royal Doulton but it isn't worth much.
Don't think I've ever seen a pink budgie before.

Cor - what would we do with that kind of 'windfall'??? I'd be in shock for a week, at least
I like Doulton, I know some pieces are quite sought after, perhaps you need to get them valued (I know that some tings do, have a sentimental value, that can not be assayed)
I googled the two of them (augustas budgie too). I have always liked them and since I have been looking at their pictures, I want one too - common sense keeps kicking in though - I have got 2 cats and one of them is a keen hunter he brings his catches home
