I recently read a post from Chris aka The Pirate. He mentioned that he recently saw Iron Man. I want to check that flick out but I'm torn between that and Speed Racer. PD would rather see Speed Racer on the big screen and she's the only one I have to see movies with. Anyway, this post is actually on comic book adaptations.
Most of the movies do follow closely with the comic books. Superman followed very close. The Tim Burton and Christoper Nolan versions of Batman also very close. I heard that the aforementioned Iron Man follows the comic too. Spiderman, although had three cool movies, didn't quite follow the comic. In the movie he was bit by a genetically altered spider. In the comic he was bit by a radioactive spider. In the movie part of his mutation was web shooters. In the comic, he built web shooters and made a chemical formula that simulated webs. In the movie his Uncle Ben was killed in a car jacking by the guy Spiderman let go at the wrestling match. In the comic book, the guy tried to rob the Parker house and Uncle Ben was killed when he surprised him. I could go on with Spidey. I won't get involved with the X-Men except that those movies were great too. The Fantastic Four was very disappointing. Totally missed the mark. The Hulk adaptation that Ang Lee adapted was awful. I'm hoping the new adaptation The Incredible Hulk makes up for that mistake. I never saw Ghost Rider but heard it was very awesome. Don't get me started on Daredevil. Ben Affleck was a terrible choice.
I never read The Matrix or Men In Black comic books but thought the movies were awesome (at least the first Matrix. I didn't care for the two sequels.) I also didn't read Hellboy but thought the movie was ok. I also didn't read the Sin City graphic novels but love the first movie and am looking forward to the sequel.
I could go on and on but as the great comic genius Stan "The Man" Lee would say...'nuff said.
