Remember when you were in elementary school and there was always at least one fat kid in class? Now, in the 21st century, there are ten times or more obese kids then there were in the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
I lay the blame on parents. They don't take the time to make their kids eat nutritious meals and take them to the park to run around and physically play. Instead they either get high calorie drive thru fast food, microwave dinners, or a bucket of fried chicken from you-know-where.
Video games have taken over the role of going to the park or playing in the back yard. Kids don't even have to leave their house to interact with their best friends. They either do online games or text messaging.
I know the excuse is "I don't have time to make dinner" or "I work long hours and I can't get the family to sit down to a meal." I've heard those excuses.
The other problem is the lack of physical fitness programs in school (like P.E. or Gym Class in elementary level) due to lack of funding. Thanks to President Chimp, the kids have to keep taking placement tests until they pass. He doesn't care if they die of heart attacks at age 18 or become type 2 diabetics.
It breaks my heart when I'm working in my store and I see a family with a whole bunch of over weight kids heading to the candy store next to me and come out five minutes later, each with about 20 dollars worth of candy.
I mentioned "Disneyland Parents" in a previous post. They want to be the fun ones and not discipline their kids. Most of the parents with chubby kids are Disneyland Parents.
'nuff said.
