Many people forget that Rocky Point was the only amusement park that featured a salt water pool. People coming to the park who wanted to swim (but there really weren't good beach conditions here) could go to the large built-in swimming pool and still swim in the salt water, but without the seaweed, feet-hurting shells, jellyfish, or sand deposits in the bathing suits.

Also, because of an absence of any bridges to get from my area of the state and beyond (like Aquidneck Island) to Rocky Point without having to go "around" by way of Providence or use a series of ferries, a boat taxi ran between Warren (near Blounts) and Rocky Point on weekends during the summer, saving people a lot of time, gas, and frustration.

My last note on Rocky Point is, yes, there were a lot of big concerts there, as well as big events like weddings, fundraising events, and political dinners. I attended a huge military ball there (and participated in a Grand March), a major fundraiser for the Kidney Foundation, and I saw Taylor Dayne, Spyro Gyra, Roomful of Blues, and many others there.

I'd love to see this movie and would probably love to have it in my collection.

Like I said before, I would sign up in a heartbeat if they'd let us old 29-yr-olds into these programs!

Wow, am I jealous! With all that I buy from Dunkin Donuts and I haven't won anything like that yet! And, if you think I'm jealous, wait until Edie hears what you won! Now, THAT will be jealousy!

Congrats, AJ! It feels so good to win something, doesn't it? That's why I know I'm going to feel fantastic when I win the lottery!

Ahhh, the good ol' days when Edie and I lived in Providence! Most of the clubs that "were" have now disappeared, but as many (if not more) have now "become". Dining at gay-owned establishments has always been easy and plentiful. (I was reminded that I did once eat at the original DownCity Diner...how could I have forgotten that!) It should be noted that Providence has always been known for featuring artists from the GLBT community in almost every gallery and showplace and a number of churches in the city have warmly opened doors and hearts to all those wishing to attend services or participate in their activities/events.

Thank you for doing this post. It's important to keep making more and more people aware of the positive, more realistic portrayals of same sex couples on TV (and on the screen, in song, etc.). As the World Turns is one of those shows that "dares" to do it and continues to follow-through with the storyline and the characters. It was also nice of you to include the videos, not just to give a glimpse of the show, but because they include one of our best allies in our fight for equal rights and acceptance. I applaud what Cindy Lauper has done for us, for the messages she gives to the straight community, and her unique music she shares with everybody. I am a fan and I would be to some extent even if I didn't have an ear for her music, for she is sweet, understanding, and an activist with the talent for making an impression in a loving way.

I can't vote for you. But I can still be a supporter!

So, whaddya think? I might like this, even though the Catholic Church says nay? I'm strongly considering it.

I should give this a try. You know I like this sort of thing, anyway, so it should be on my "must see" list.

It is really a nice song and, yes, it does sort of "go" with Gwen, doesn't it?

That's such good stuff you do with the summer program. I was reading some of the posters on display at the Bristol Library for upcoming things the youth will be doing (and presenting). Oh, if only I was younger than 29! I'd love to sign up for this sort of thing!

Ahh, let's see...crickets have ears on their legs, I think the front legs, but if I'm wrong about that, they're still on some legs. Now, the life of a dragonfly? I don't know that one. I'll either have to look it up or wait.

Although this one doesn't sound too bad, it doesn't sound particularly good, either, so I might pass on it (although I will think about it first).

Those kids are good, aren't they? They work hard and always do a good job. I've never seen them live...I've always seen them on somebody's video recording, like the one I just watched.

I like the idea of the library doing more in the way of presenting the arts to the community. A number of years ago, a cousin of mine used to sing at the George Haile Free Library in Warren. He was pretty well known around these towns as the Singing Barber. He did quite a few performances at the library with his accompanist on the piano. There was always a pretty good turn out, too, so it proves that communities want this sort of thing.

Ahem...I don't think I really have to say anything here...I think you know what I would say, anyway. I enjoyed your review, though.
