Since I have not had a chance to run around and pick up the weekly drawing prizes for the summer reading program yet, I had to do that today. This was pretty important because I was supposed to draw the first two names tomorrow morning, and it would be good to have the things they need to choose from at the library when they came to pick out there prizes.
It ended up not being too bad. I am not sure why, but it went a lot quicker than usual. I think most of it was because I didn't have to wait too much at most of the stores. Of course, that is probably a bad thing because most of them were empty, and I was able to walk right up to the register. Anyone else think that is a sign of how bad things are for the economy.
There was only a couple of places where I had to wait in line. The first of those places was Target. Since I was just getting a gift card, I got in the express 10 items or less aisle. Somehow, I ended up behind someone who apparently didn't get the 10 items or less part.
Later I went to a restaurant. I ended up behind someone who tends to cause all sorts of challenges at the library. She was doing her usual thing at the library, which led to quite the backup at the register. It was actually quite funny.
Anyway, in case you are curious about the prizes, here is the deal. We buy a bunch of $10 gift cards to area stores and restaurants. As the kids come to activities, read books, and do projects relating to the books, they get chances to win a gift card. We draw two names each week. The kids come down to the library and pick from whatever prizes still remain as the summer progresses. Here is a list of the cards we have to choose from:
