A Decent Saturday

Hey, today was pretty decent. I got out of bed nice and early because I took Edie into work this morning. How nice to have that time together. This is what I used to do everyday, but Edie's been driving herself to work for a couple of years now, so I only give her a ride occasionally. I find that the little extra time spent together, especially when the ride is a pretty one such as this morning, is really nice.

I got to read a bunch of my email and read some blogs this morning before doing a couple of routine chores and then heading out. I didn't get to walk today, but I did swing by the library and pick up a book, got to pick up a few things at a store that my mom needed, and then head out to visit with my mom and dad. That turned out to be a wonderful visit! Nobody was using the laundry room, sooooooooooooooo I did my one giant load of clothes there instead of going to the laundromat! I'm not really supposed to use the laundry room there, but, I swear, nobody was using it and I didn't use it for nothing...I paid my bunch of quarters into the machines. Anyway, the time needed for getting the clothes washed and dried meant time spent with my parents instead of sitting in some "Suds for Duds", "Suds and Bubbles", or "Launder 'n Luxury"!

I was going to return home and maybe go for a walk in the time I had left before going to get Edie at work, but when I reached the traffic light at the top of my mother's street, "something" changed my mind...and I turned right instead of left. I don't know why, but I got the idea that I would like to take a ride out to visit my friend, Shirley. She's my friend that lives "just over the line" in Massachusetts who gives me vegetables from her garden every year. Although I've spoken to her a number of times, I haven't seen her since her last harvest, which was for squash, onions, beets, and a pumpkin. So, why not see if she might be home! And, yes, she was home! It was such a gorgeous afternoon that she joined me outdoors and we visited out in her yard.

Then I picked up Edie, took a quick swing through one part of town to show her a neat little "crocus patch" growing right on the side of the road, and then came home. We enjoyed a quick, easy, and tasty Saturday supper. We cooked up some chicken breasts, made sandwiches with them on whole grain rolls, added a side of some cole slaw we made. Yummm! Now, we're each doing "our own thing" at our computers, I'm talking to my brother on the phone, and soon we'll be joining each other in the livingroom to watch TV. Yep, a decent Saturday!
