Well, I went and did it. And it only cost fifty cents to get started. I have thirty days to come up with $45 if necessary. I began the paperwork for eviction for R.
We had a disagreement this morning and he wisely left. Yesterday R told me that he was going to have the junk yard come get his car, as he has no money to drive. Even though the thing is a beater, it runs well enough and gets you safely from point A to point B. I was really angry, as I know one of the reasons R was going to do this was so I had no further access to a car. Of course I made it very clear to him how I felt about this and how I felt about him bailing on a ten year old girl that he made a commitment to help take care of months ago.
I did speak to R's mother about what happened this morning and she said that her mother (who raised R) came and picked him up and R signed over his car to her for a dollar. I told her that he did that so I couldn't drive it, as it belongs to someone else now.
So be it, R is somebody else's problem anyway. He has no job, he has no money, he has no willingness to get another job. R has thirty days to move out, or then I will go through with the next step and take him to court.
R hasn't been back today and I don't know if he will. The keys to his grandmother's car are now sitting on top of the eviction notice sitting on top of his dresser. Perhaps he will realize that I mean business. Who's to say?
I look at it this way. If you can't step up to the plate, then step off.
