I was reading this morning about the woman that reunited with her mother after being missing for eighteen years. The conditions in which she and her two children she bore to a child molester were sparse and unusual to say the least. Essentially this person was a sex slave from the time she was abducted as a child until her recent freedom. I am amazed at the courage and tenacity of the child that became this young woman.

I am also somewhat disappointed that neighbors were aware that there were people living in the yard next door even though they could not be viewed yet did not investigate. They did claim they heard the kidnap victim's daughters playing in the yard at times.

I am not saying that we should be in some-body's face questioning them or in their business. But shouldn't we notice when things aren't quite right and pursue it appropriately? Of course, hindsight is always 20/20. I do understand that, but could some years have been removed from this situation had it been investigated?

Just my thoughts. I myself am one that looks out for others. Part of my makeup, I guess.

I am still impressed with what the human spirit can endure. And I am happy that one family was reunited with their child after such a long time, and even blessed with grandchildren.
