A Sad Christmas for So Many

To see John Walsh cry for the child he lost twenty seven years ago really grips my heart.  He took a tragedy and used the emotion and energy from that to do something great for many other children.  And because of twenty years of crusading on a Saturday night television show, more than 1000 fugitives have been caught.
How difficult it must have been for Mr. Walsh and his wife and his family to finally get the answers they wanted so long for.  I pray that answers about Caylee come swiftly for her loved ones.  Just waiting a few days for what I fear is the inevitable has been long for those of us who love Deb and care about her family.  We cannot even imagine the strain on their hearts as they endure this difficult time.
I pray that some peace and some closure will come sooner rather than later for Caylee Anothony's loved ones.  I applaud the Walsh's for being real rather than stoic today in their interviews.  Their continued sadness shows that the hurt and pain of losing a loved one does not wane as time goes by.
It is hard to believe that Christmas is just over a week away.  I am saddened that there are children and families that will have no Christmas.  It is unconscionable that in this land of "wealth" we have families who are homeless and living in shelters.  I do not understand how someone with many thousands and millions of dollars in their bank account can lay their head on their pillow at night and actually sleep.
I read in tonight's Flint Journal that over 600 turkeys were given to families of Flint School students.  Last year the number was more like 1,100.  Our failing economy has lessened donations during the Christmas time of need and all year round.  It was heart warming, though, to read of children's excitement that they would have turkey for Christmas this year.
I really do believe that this is the saddest Christmas I have ever witnessed, and my feelings have nothing to do with my personal situation.  I will continue to have a place to lay my head at night, food to nourish my child and I, and hope for our future.  There are so many that have little or none of that.  This is where the "bailouts" should have begun.  Is there any way that it can still happen?

We all try to do our best Deb.
We give to the food pantry and the SPCA.
You only can do so much.
I am always willing to help out there.

Jon Walsh is an amazing man. I wish I could figure out how to take my anger with the way animals are treated and get my voice heard like he did... he's an amazing man...
