Aesthete
As an American of color, I learned to view as compliments
such terms as "uppity" or "arrogant." Why? Because it meant
that I had gotten beneath the skin of the user of such terms, which only made
him or her look like a threatened loser. It's not really uncommon for a
high-achieving black (or any other ethnicity, for that matter) to encounter
such as this. Name-calling is a reflection of an individual's dissatisfaction
with him- or herself and it's not just black vs. white. Envy and resentment are
universal. I feel similarly about blacks who refer to more successful blacks as
"Uncle Toms" or "sellouts."

Barack Obama lives in a very special place. Since none of
his ancestors were slaves, he is forever outside the historic African-American
experience. He’s not fully white, either.
Some human beings can’t cope with this always haunted in
some deep dark place in his soul. Many racially mixed people are intellectually
superior to their parents. This can help to give them perspective, which also
is a two-edged sword.
Barack used his edge to integrate his personality and to
cope with the world as a complete man. He is not absorbed by life’s little
turmoil. Analytical and calculating he can see the other man’s situation and
can adjust to it.
These are great and rare qualities for a person in public
life.
