The Campaign Autopsy
Based on Charles Krauthammer's Washington Post Article
Krauthammer argues that John McCain was the best candidate ever to go down to defeat. McCain was leading when Lehman Brothers collapsed.
In the swift and decisive Obama victory, we have forgotten that John McCain was actually ahead in the first weeks of September. Then Lehman Brothers collapsed and the economy fell with it.
"This was not just a meltdown but a panic. For an agonizing few days, there was a collapse of faith in the entire financial system -- a run on banks, panicky money-market withdrawals, flights to safety, the impulse to hide one's savings under a mattress."
Now, Charles takes leave of his senses.
If the government bails out Goldman Sachs, they can bail out the rest of us [fat cats]. He is not writing about you and me. Charles would not know an ordinary citizen if he tripped over him.
