Tens of thousands of elderly people are suffering appalling abuse in homes
for the aged, according to the first ever audit of calls to the Commission for
Social Care Inspection, England's
social care watchdog. In just six months, more than 1,000 calls were made by
people who suspected their relations or friends were being abused by care
workers, including being tied to their beds, locked up and dragged around by
their hair. (Sunday Telegraph)
