Soup Weather

It is soup weather. Today I am making vegetable soup. I got a great soup bone at Dominick's yesterday. $1.88. Carrots, potatoes, celery, green beans, tomatoes. A bay leaf, some Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper. Is it soup yet? Not for a few more hours. Monday will be chili day. The soup will be gone.

This post reads like my Aunt Edith's letters-full of too much detail. Oh, no. I already turned into my mother-now I am turning into my deceased aunt.

You don't have a garden, do you?

Yes, I have a garden. The squirrels, raccoons and chipmunks love my garden.

I remember when butchers gave you free 'soup bones'

I remember that and free bones for your dog. It is hard to find soup bones around here now. I usually buy stew meat.

Thanks for reminding me. I did put onion in the soup but forgot to mention it. Sometimes, but not today, I add turnips or rutabaga or parsnips. Today I had an open bottle of red wine so I poured a little of that in. And a few shakes of Emeril's seasoning. Bam! It's ready now.

You think that's too much detail? Not for those of us who make soup. Never know when we might get a good idea for our next batch. But no onion?
