Now with the shutdown the IRS is not working so you have a little more time for gathering your paperwork. Just making a little lemonade.
Two steps forward and one step back. It sounds like things are coming together a little bit. I sure don't envy you the trips up and down the ladder carrying everything. All of us here in MyBloggers land are sending you good wishes and hopes for better days ahead, starting with power and roads and a bridge with two ends.
That video made me nervous. It looked like they were going so fast. I would have been creeping along, making the drivers behind me crazy.
I hope you can get back soon to do your winterizing and move on to Vegas for the duration. It must be so frustrating to not know what is happening at your property and the neighborhood. Here's hoping the road gets opened soon.
So glad that things are coming together, little by little.
I have friends who have been to Greece and love it. I hope it works out for you. Opa! Glad the organic farm is coming along. That is an ambitious project. Please keep us posted on your news. It is always good to see a new post from you so we know you are still around.
So glad you and Eloise are OK. When you weren't posting, we knew there was trouble and you were in the midst of it.
I hope that you got out safely and are now in Las Vegas.
What about the flooding? Are you underwater? It looks bad watching the news from CO.
I live near Palatine. Here is the obit from the local paper. A small notice for one who was mentioned in the NY Times and other national papers. I guess he kept a low profile here.
Author Frederik Pohl, who over decades gained a reputation of being a literate and sophisticated writer of science fiction, has died at age 93.
His wife, Elizabeth Hull, said Tuesday that Pohl died Monday at a hospital after experiencing respiratory problems at his home in the Chicago suburb of Palatine.
Pohl wrote more than 40 novels. Two of his better-known works were "The Space Merchants," written in the early 1950s with Cyril M. Kornbluth, and 1978's "Gateway," a winner of the Hugo Award for science fiction writing. Pohl was a literary agent and editor before getting his own work published in science fiction magazines of the 1930s. He's credited with launching the careers of James Blish and Larry Niven.
The robo sales calls just keep coming even though I am on the do not call list. I press the number they offer to not be called again. I think this just encourages them that they have a live one on the line.
I am weeping for/with you. My kitten Max is four months old now. He is from a shelter; he was found by the side of the road in a box with his siblings when he was 8 weeks old. Our cats were all adults when we got them. Having a kitten is a new experience. Max is a wild thing-like the book Where the Wild Things Are.
There are supposed to be hummingbirds around here but it is a very rare occasion that I see one. I try to plant the kind of flowers that they like. I used to have a feeder but that didn't seem to work either.
One time I had an electric bill to mail and a water bill to deposit in the drop box at village hall. I went to the post office and thought I mailed the electric bill. Surprise! When I got to village hall, I had the electric bill and the water bill was gone. It was in an envelope that had Water written on the front, nothing else. I knew what I had done, figured that that bill was long gone, and wrote a new check for the water. A week later, I got my water bill and check in a big envelope in my mail box. The post office people opened the envelope and used my address to find me. We have 43000 residents. Great service!
I miss your fox too. Have you been to see our goose?
