Rara , I agree with you again - "on eye for eye". This is one of the many passages that appears in both the Koran and the Bible. I think Moses meant it as a limit because in those days the practice was to wipe out a whole village to revenge a killing on one person. Jesus updated it by telling us that we must forgive and even love those who wrong us. I think God loves all of His creation, including Christians, Muslims, and Jews. Only by breaking the revenge cycle can we move forward for the benefit of all. Not an easy road though. Keep seeking - cheers

I remember using conformal mapping for something, but I can't remember what - nothing that paid off I presume; glad I can forget that headache stuff. I remember jokes better: "How does a mathematician cook a turkey? First he assumes a spherical turkey."

Yep, one of the most ignored of Jesus' teachings: "Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself". Hard to just put it all in His hands though. I'm sure it is a helpful book.Cheers

I agree with bumpedoff re MIC. Re battlefield mental health, the statement "War is Hell" is nothing new and I guess war stress has been driving soldiers crazy for a long time - reason 567 (or so) to work for PEACE!

Made my dayI am not a passer on of stuff but enjoyed yours PS re Stay up a whole night without sleep? especially the nights before chemistry exams - I used to do this for Organic chemistry - resulting in pretty good grades, since it was all memory - it sure did not work for anything else! Cheers

I guess he is nuts. Or I am. Following the trend, he will probably get about 0.O1 percent this time.

I spent the first 30 years of my life in the Midwest. I really don't think it is habitable. Wishing an early Spring and NO SHOVELING for you

That's telling themOnly better thing would be to ignore them- they are not in your class.
Houston in May should be about like Bandung I guess. In August it is more like Jakarta! Good luck

WowThat is news to me - I hope eddie is right and it was not sanctioned. There are other places for that kind of stuff; it is not for mature people who want to share ideas - I agree with your comments!!

LOVE IT! Even Bill Cosby could not claim such an instructive mother. Mine was a pianist (musicians don't say much); she did read to me a lot.

Yeah the MIC now has come up with a brilliant plan all right - an enemy impossible to define and mobile enough to live anyway there are resources we need to control with hatred completely self sustaining and a fright insured defense budget. Brilliant! I do not think they will try nuclear. They are interested in profit not necessarily destruction and a good way to stop the game is knock all the pieces on the floor. Eisenhower was right but who listens?. Indeed we do need a Messiah

Gee sounds right to me. I am doing a contract report right now, principally by copying equations developed in two of my previous reports. Why not, they are still good?. Cheers

Wow, sorry I was away and did not know about all this. Hope you are doing OK by now. You might know it was an American -over here it is mostly Me First ! Forget about others!. When I lived in Indonesia a few years ago people would usually just cross the busy road, waving their hands in a downward motion, and people would slow down to let them cross. I saw this many times. At least then it was more like "gotong royong" than "me first". I liked that. Well take care - watch out for Americans!
