Today is 3/11/11 :: Japan: 8.9 Earthquake + Tsunami

The reports are still coming in and will for days...
This is not going to hit the US mainland that hard.

Massive 8.9 Quake Hits Japan Brings Tsunami
CNN
A powerful earthquake hit Japan today, unleashing a tsunami that swept
debris miles inland. The U.S. and 19 other countries are under a tsunami warning.

In
case you still doubt End Times, or the fact that the tectonic plates
and faults lines across the planet are breaking as we approach 2012,
think again. Seriously folks, the program is closing, but you already
know that ... and it really is time to get away from the Pacific Ring of
Fire. Earlier in the week, my friend Geri and I were talking about the
6.3 earthquake that hit Japan and how few people took notice. We agreed
that we have always seen earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan as precursors
of the final Event.
Also bear in mind that Japan has a Supervolcano the kind that blocks our already awakening sun (see bar graph above) as Solar Max gets closer.

Scientists find increase in microearthquakes after Chilean quake   PhysOrg - February 25, 2011
By
studying seismographs from the earthquake that hit Chile last February,
earth scientists at the Georgia Institute of Technology have found a
statistically significant increase of micro-earthquakes in central
California in the first few hours after the main shock. The observation
provides an additional support that seismic waves from distant
earthquakes could also trigger seismic events on the other side of the
earth. The results may be found online in the journal Geophysical
Research Letters.

Looming 'supermoon' triggers debate

The first event of its kind in 18 years has one astrologer warning of dire scenarios. Scientists weigh in on the risks

So I searched looking for other insights .and found this from
by Tammy Plotner on March 10, 2011 on www.universetoday.com

I
mean no disrespect for those who enjoy the study of astrology. Some of
the greatest astronomers of the past were also astrologers. To practice
either line requires a deep understanding of our solar system, its
movements and the relationship to the celestial sphere. The only thing I
have difficulty swallowing is how a perfectly normal function could
wreak havoc on planet Earth. Does an astrological prediction of an
upcoming “Extreme SuperMoon” spell impending disaster – or is it just
one more attempt to excite our natural tendencies to love a good gloom
and doom story? That’s what I set about to find out…

On
March 19, 2011 the Moon will pass by Earth at a distance of 356,577
kilometers (221,567 miles) – the closest pass in 18 years . In my world,
this is known as lunar perigee and a normal lunar perigee averaging a
distance of 364,397 kilometers (226,425 miles) happens… well… like
clockwork once every orbital period. According to astrologer, Richard
Nolle, this month’s closer than average pass is called an Extreme
SuperMoon. “SuperMoon is a word I coined in a 1979 article for Dell
Publishing Company’s HOROSCOPE magazine, describing what is
technically termed a perigee-syzygy; i.e. a new or full Moon (syzygy)
which occurs with the Moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest
approach to Earth (perigee) in a given orbit.” says Richard. “In short,
Earth, Moon and Sun are all in a line, with Moon in its nearest approach
to Earth.”

Opinions
aside, it is a scientific fact when the Moon is at perigee there is more
gravitational pull, creating higher tides or significant variations in
high and low tides. In addition, the tidal effect of the Sun’s
gravitational field increases the Moon’s orbital eccentricity when the
orbit’s major axis is aligned with the Sun-Earth vector. Or, more
specifically, when the Moon is full or new. We are all aware of Earth’s
tidal bulges. The average tidal bulge closely follows the Moon in its
orbit, and the Earth rotates under this tidal bulge in just over a day.
However, the rotation drags the position of the tidal bulge ahead of the
position directly under the Moon. It produces torque… But is it above
average torque when the Moon is closer? It you ask a geologist, they’ll
tell you no. If you ask an astronomer, they’ll tell you that just about
any cataclysmic Earth event can be related to stars. But if you ask me,
I’ll tell you that you should drawyour own opinion. Even the American
Meteorlogical Society states: “Tidal forces contribute to ocean
currents, which moderate global temperatures by transporting heat energy
toward the poles. It has been suggested that in addition to other
factors, harmonic beat variations in tidal forcing may contribute to
climate changes.”

Credit: Richard Nolle

“SuperMoons
are noteworthy for their close association with extreme tidal forces
working in what astrologers of old used to call the sublunary world: the
atmosphere, crust and oceans of our home planet – including ourselves,
of course. From extreme coastal tides to severe storms to powerful
earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, the entire natural world surges and
spasms under the sway of the SuperMoon alignment – within three days
either way of the exact syzygy, as a general rule.” says Nolle.
“Obviously it won’t be the case that all hell will break loose all over
the world within a few days either side of the SuperMoons. For most of
us, the geocosmic risk raised by SuperMoon alignments will pass with
little notice in our immediate vicinity. This is a rather roomy planet,
after all. But the fact remains that a SuperMoon is planetary in scale,
being a special alignment of Earth, Sun and Moon. It’s likewise
planetary in scope, in the sense that there’s noplace on Earth not
subject to the tidal force of the perigee-syzygy.”

If
you take the time to really look at Nolle’s work, you’ll find that he
does not believe earthquakes and volcanic eruptions go wandering all
over the planet. They happen in predictable locations, like the infamous
“Ring of Fire” around the Pacific plate. “If you’re in (or plan to be
in) a place that’s subject to seismic upheaval during a SuperMoon stress
window, it’s not hard to figure out that being prepared to the extent
that you can is not a bad idea. Likewise, people on the coast should be
prepared for extreme tidal surges. Severe storms on the other hand can
strike just about anywhere, so it behooves us all to be ready for rough
weather when a SuperMoon alignment forms.”

Does
this mean I’m about to buy into astrology? Not hardly. But what I do
believe in is respect for other’s work and opinions. It’s very obvious
that Nolle has done his astronomy homework – as well as paying close
attention to current political and social situations. “That said,
there’s no harm in making sensible preparations for this year’s
SuperMoons.” quips Richard. “The worst that can happen, if the worst
doesn’t happen, is that you end up with a stock of fresh batteries and
candles, some extra bottled water and canned goods, maybe a full tank of
gas and an evacuation bag packed just in case. (The US Department of
Homeland Security has a detailed evacuation kit inventory that, to quote
them, “could mean the difference between life and death”.) And maybe
you’ll think twice about being in transit and vulnerable to the weather
hazards and delays that are so common during SuperMoon alignments. These
are the kind of sensible precautions that can makea big difference if
the worst does come to pass.”

What
do I believe will happen during an Extreme SuperMoon? I think if we
aren’t having two snowstorms followed by a nocturnal tornado and then
chased down by a week of flooding in Ohio, that the March Worm Moon will
appear to be about 30% brighter and about 15% larger than a “normal”
full Moon. If I were an astrophotographer, I’d be getting out my camera
(and hip waders) to do a few comparison shots with upcoming full Moons.
But considering all things are equal?

I think I’ll just stay home.

AND this from TheWeek.com

March 19, 2011… “SuperMoon” or “SuperHype”?
New
York – Next week, March 19, 2011,  the moon will make its closest
approach to Earth in almost 20 years. Some fret that earthquakes,
volcanic eruptions, and other disasters will follow

Keep
your eyes on the night sky on March 19, also known as the evening of
the extreme Super Moon, when the lunar sphere comes as close as it ever
has, or will, to Earth. Some believe the astronomical event will be
followed by catastrophic storms, earthquakes and other natural
disasters. Here's why:

What exactly is a "Super Moon"?
The term refers to the unusually large new (or full) moon that earthlings see when the moon travels almost as close as it can to Earth. An "extreme Super Moon" occurs when the
moon reaches its absolute closest point. On March 19, the moon will be
only 221,556 miles away — the first extreme Super Moon in nearly 20
years.
Should we be concerned?
Those who
believe in horoscopes might be. Some astrologers (not astronomers) say
this natural wonder signals the beginning of a "moonageddon," coinciding
with enormous storms, earthquakes and floods. Kit Karson at Psychic Cosmos further predicts that the financial markets could collapse as prices surge into "panic mode."
Is this for real?
Astrologists point to history to validate their predictions, says Ben Yakas at Gothamist . Both the New England hurricane of 1938 and the Australian Hunter
Valley floods of 1955 happened during Super Moons, they say. The last
Super Moon came in 2005, at around the same time as Hurricane Katrina
and the Indonesian tsunami.

Is there any science backing these theories up?
Absolutely none, says Pete Wheeler of the International Center for Radio Astronomy . All that will happen next week is that the Earth will experience a
"lower than usual low tide and a higher than usual high tide." A Super
Moon, he concludes, is "nothing to get excited about."

But what about extreme weather during past Super Moons?
It's
just coincidence, says astronomer David Reneke. "'If you try hard
enough you can chronologically associate almost any natural disaster or
event to anything in the night sky." In the past, he adds, people
thought the sun would be pulled apart when the planets aligned. "It
didn't happen." And the catastrophic events cited by excitable
astrologers didn't even happen that close to Super Moons, points out John Metcalfe at TBD . The Hunter river flooded in February 1955, "two whole months before and after bookending Super Moons."

March’s Super Moon: More Earthquakes, Weird Weather, Volcanic Eruptions?

SUPER MOON PREDICTIONS ..

 Last post: yesterday

Astrologer Richard Nolle's Super Moon predictions, March 19 Full Moon , ... NASA and their climate research satellites, 0-2 in the past two ...
www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message1385984/pg1

Astrologer Richard Nolle's Super Moon predictions, March 19 Full Moon, Biggest Full Moon of the Year While
following up on the ‘UFO Mystery in Australia‘-the sighting by hundreds
of witnesses in Maryborough, Queensland of mysterious orange lights
that continue to appear in the skies since last week, lights unexplained
by authorities or ‘experts’, we discovered two new reports from the
Fraser Coast Chronicle:
New video footage of the lights ‘taken Tuesday night’, and, another news report, Super Moon ‘behind wild weather‘.
AN
ALARMING email has been doing the rounds of the Fraser Coast and has
claimed that a “super moon” cycle is to blame for Queensland’s wild
weather this summer, with more on the way.
The email states that
in an 18.6-year cycle, a “super moon” occurs when a new or full moon is
at 90% or greater of its closest approach to earth.
The scientific name for such a phenomenon is the slightly less exciting “lunar perigee”.
The
chain email lists a number of dates going back almost 60 years, which
coincide with floods in 1955, 1974, 1992 and 2011 – each 18-19 years
apart.
It then states that on March 19, the super
moon cycle for this year will be at its closest, warning that further
flooding is on the way.

According to the Fraser paper, the ‘last date can verified by science’:
At
the very least, this last date can be verified by science, with the
Bureau of Meteorology confirming that on March 19, the moon will be the
closest it has been to earth in 18 years, at a distance of “just”
356,577km.

The verdict on the email from the regional Bureau spokesman: ‘Gossip!’

Was
the email related to astrologer Richard Nolle? Nolle was mentioned by
D.C.’s ABC 7 Stormwatch Weather blog post, Extreme Super Moon 2011 to
cause destruction?: Don’t be alarmed if come March 19 you find
your astrology-reading friends clunking around in hip waders and
full-face helmets with fire extinguishers under their arms. You see,
that Saturday falls upon a scrotum-tightening event known in
astrological circles as an Extreme SuperMoon.
(snip)
Before
writing about Nolle and his predictions, Ken Ring’s site
PredictWeather.com. Ring wrote about Nolle and the Super Moon and the
’19-yr cycles’. Ring also included another interesting tidbit–scroll
down the page–about a Washington Post article. The type of article
climate scientists, i.e., NASA’s James Hansen, won’t be attaching to an
email. The report of melting ice and disappearing glaciers and seals in
the Arctic…..in 1922.

Nolle’s March 2011 predictions include more
than the ‘Super Moon’ and Nolle notes that even more significant than
the Super Moon will be the Jupiter-Saturn alignment. Backing up his
March predictions, Nolle linked to his prior predictions, predictions
including the ‘people’s revolutions in the Middle East’. Nolle’s ‘Super Moon’ prediction:
‘The
March 19 SuperMoon is by far the most significant storm and seismic
indicator this month, but it’s not the only one. Lesser geocosmic shock
windows also up the ante for unusually strong storms and moderate to
severe seismic activity (including magnitude 5+ earthquakes, subsequent
tsunami, and volcanic eruptions). These lesser windows include March 1-7
(surrounding the new moon on the 4th), March 23-26 (bracketing the
lunar south declination peak on the 25th), and from late on the 31st on
into early April.’
In the last 24 hours, according to the USGS,
near the east of coast of Honshu, Japan, there’s been 22 recorded
earthquakes, the largest quake a 7.2 which included a minor tsunami
warning. The latest earthquake, a 6.0. The prior earthquake, which
struck less than 30 minutes earlier, a 6.1. Twelve of the quakes
measured over 5.0.

On March 5th, a new fissure eruption on
Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano and new eruptions at Fuego Volcano, Guatemala.
On March 3rd, an explosion at Santa Maria Volcano in Guatemala. For more
details on recent volcanic activity see Volcanolive.com.
